It has just been announced that Beyonce and Andre 3000 will team up for a cover of Amy Winehouse’s classic song, Back to Black.

The cover will be featured as part of the remake for the classic film and novel The The Great Gatsby and will be featured on a soundtrack for the film. The soundtrack song will be produced by Bey’s husband Jay-Z and and is said to differ from the original version of Back to Black, as it will have a blend of contemporary music, jazz and hip-hop.

A rep for Interscope records said in a statement:

It’s a very different take on Back to Black.

The Great Gatsby is scheduled for release on 10 May and the original version of Back to Black that was included on Amy’s 2006 Grammy-winning album of the same name, was produced by Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi.

So how do we feel about this? I’m sure there are a lot of people who feel like the song shouldn’t be touched, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what they come up with.

Andre 3000 and Beyonce previously teamed up for Beyonce’s single Party, which was taken from her 2011 album 4, so it will be interesting to see if they can pull off such a big song and it will be interesting to see how much it will differ from the original.

Is this a good idea? Are Amy Winehouse fans open to having Beyonce remake the song? Share your thoughts below, I’m sure this will generate a lot of controversy.
