Remember a few weeks ago when we told you guys that Marvin from JLS had started a job at Capital FM as a radio DJ? Then joked about him being a bit extreme in getting a second job? Well it seems like he knew exactly what he was doing.

Five years after coming to fame on X Factor, JLS are breaking up.

I can hear the cries of teenage girls around the country already.

JLSters (apparently that’s what their fans are called) will be upset by an announcement by the boys today of their intention to split up at the end of the year.

In a statement on their website they said:

To each and every JLSter, our beloved fans around the world. We wanted to make sure that you heard it from the four of us, that we have decided to bring our time as a band to an end. It has been the most incredible journey over the last six years and we have achieved more things than we could have ever dreamed possible.

Thanks to all of you guys, your support, your dedication and your love, you have changed our lives forever and we wouldn’t be where we are today without you.

Also adding:

We will always remain brothers and friends and we will always be your boys.

Don’t get the tissues out yet though girls. The band will still be releasing one more album, called Goodbye: The Greatest Hits, and will be releasing a single for this album, before finishing with a tour towards the end of the year.

Marvin gave some insight into the boys’ decision, saying:

It’s an emotional time. There’s no getting away from that. We have been through so much together. But we have to be mature and look at this decision as a celebration of what we managed to achieve.

… We wanted to finish on a high. We’re finishing with an arena tour – our third arena tour – and that is a massive achievement. The last five or so years have been nothing short of incredible. It has been an incredible journey.

I’m sure this is coming as a shock to a lot of people, though they are said to have ‘agonised over the decision for months’.

How does it feel to be the hottest saddest girl in the world right now? I’m sure a heartbroken JLSter will tell us.

I wish them the best of luck though in their individual future plans.
