Rita Ora, Bruno Mars and Calvin Harris have all been confirmed as acts for this year’s Radio One’s Big Weekend as revealed by the station’s leading presenter, Nick Grimshaw.
The live shows will start on 24 May will be and will be headlined by Calvin Harris, with Chase and Status, Dizzee Rascal and Rudimental.
On the same day, Rita will headline the 1Xtra/ In New Music We Trust stage with the support of A$AP Rocky, J.Cole, Wiley and Katy B.
The two day event willtake place on the 24-26 May and Rita and Wiley will play on the Friday date of the live gigs, along with Angel Haze, MistaJam, Dizzee Rascal and many more.
This year’s gig will be held at Derry/Londonderry in Northern Ireland, the same city that hosted the first of the two 2004 Big Weekends.
A little disappointed it’s not in London this year, considering the amount of London-based artists they have lined up, but at least they’ll get exposure to an audience that may not be as familiar with some of the artists, so that’s always a good thing.
