The jury at the inquest held to find out the cause of reggae star Smiley Culture’s death has come to a decision.

The jury, made up of five men and six women, took 12 hours and 52 minutes to conclude his cause of death as suicide.

The 48-year-old singer, who has been described as an ‘icon of British reggae rap who paved the way for modern stars’, died on 15 March 2011, and was said to have died as a result of a self-inflicted stab wound to the heart during a police raid at his home.

1,000 people including family members and friends marched to Scotland Yard after his death to demand a public inquiry, and we’ll have to see whether they are satisfied with the outcome of the inquest.

My guess is that many may still have more questions, as it’s taken two years to finally come to this result. We can only wait and see what affect it’ll have.
