Estelle has departed Atlantic Records and Homeschool Records (under John Legend’s management) and launched her own independent record label, New London Records, whilst continuing her publishing contract with Sony BMG.

The British singer, who currently lives in New York, said that she planned to “bridge the gap between soul, pop, London and New York -uniting them through music” with her new venture.

She will also release her new EPs under the indie record label which consists of her three volume series Love & Happiness; the first part Love Jones has already been released and the successive two, Vol. 2 Waiting To Exhale and Vol. 3 How Stella Got Her Groove Back are due for a release later this year.

Her next album is planned for a 2014 release.

When Estelle came out with American Boy and gained recognition abroad, it looked like she was ready to become the next big thing from the UK. But after being quiet for a while and not getting much promo, Estelle has decided to go it alone. What do we think? Is this a good move for the singer?
