It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from Labrinth and that’s because he’s been cooped up in the studio recording the follow up to his debut album Electronic Earth.
The hardworking 24-year-old, who recently stormed the Billboard charts with his Emeli Sande assisted duet Beneath Your Beautiful, spoke to The Daily Star on the direction of his new record :
I’m still exploring new stuff and have been buying an insane amount of vintage synthesisers as I want people to see where I’ve come from in terms of gospel, soul. A lot more of my voice and musicality shines through.
It all ties together a lot more on this album. The last one was like a crazy kid in a sweet shop that threw everything in but this is more coherent. Every song on the radio is totally different but I like to think that I got there first.
The singer also counted Daft Punk as one of his main inspirations for his new sound and revealed that he plans to work with Emeli Sande again once they have time.
We’ve loved everything Labrinth has worked on and will definitley be keeping a lookout on the next record!
