The 23-year-old British woman whose leg was severed at the ankle of her left leg faces amputation from the knee after doctors failed to successfully reattach the limb.
Sian Green, a fashion graduate from Leicester, was holidaying with a friend in New York and was hit by a taxi which had swerved onto the sidewalk, striking her down and severing her foot from her left leg and injuring her right.
Things looked hopeful when doctors planned to reattach her foot, however despite their efforts this could not be done and Sian’s left leg was amputated from the knee down instead.
However, medics say that Sian should be able to regain full use of her right leg with the help of physiotherapy.
Meanwhile, the taxi driver Faysal Kabir Mohammad Himon will appear in court for not having an authorised licence for the vehicle.
