The opening night of the British Urban Film Festival saw movie buffs and stars come together to watch the very best in urban independent cinema.
Attendees were treated to a drinks reception, which I took advantage of, and delicious cupcakes provided by Earle of Cakes. While talented actresses such as Preeya Kalidas and Kyla Frye entered the Odeon cinema in West End.
Zawe Ashton was the hostess with the mostest and introduced Aml Ameen’s short film Hoorah, which saw him don an American accent. Unfortunately the 28-year-old actor couldn’t attend the festival, as he is currently in the States filming.
Ameen’s film, was followed by the international premiere of Calloused Hands and a few tears were shed as I watched some emotional scenes between Daisy Haggard and The Wire actor Andre Royo.
Despite being tired, we made it down to the after-party, which took place at Ruby Blues. And cut a few shapes before heading home.
