Ricky Preddie, 26, appeared at Hammersmith Magistrates Court today over a number of driving offences and couldn’t help but draw attention to the biggest crime that he is known for: the murder of 10-year-old Damilola Taylor.
Holding up a sign handwritten on a piece of paper, Preddie misspelled Damilola’s name calling for “real justice” for the young victim.
As in send you back to jail?
Ricky and his brother Danny Preddie were given an eight year sentence in 2006 for manslaughter, after stabbing Damilola Taylor in the leg with a broken bottle in 2000 near North Peckham Estate.
The brothers have been playing hokey-pokey with the legal system since their early release in 2010, being arrested, breaching their bail terms and finding themselves in and out of jail for a number of offences over the years.
Brothers Danny and Ricky Preddie
Preddie appeared in court today to plead not guilty to three charges of driving whilst disqualified, three counts of driving without insurance, two counts of inconsiderate driving and one charge of trespassing a railway.
Considering that Damilola’s father has been fighting to keep the two – who clearly haven’t learnt their lesson – behind bars, to see Ricky holding up that sign must be like a slap in the face.
Just what is wrong with this guy?
