A mental health worker has been accused of helping a murderer escape the mental health unit he was serving his sentence in, just months into his 28 year ruling.
Leron Michael Boye ran away from the John Howard Centre in Homerton last Wednesday at about 2pm. He was serving a life sentence for stabbing 17-year-old Kelvin Chibueze as he attended a birthday party in 2011.
He was sent to the centre in December of last year and served less than a year of his sentence before fleeing.
29-year-old Dean Ablakwa was arrested this Wednesday will appear at Thames Magistrate Court charged with conspiracy to assist an offender to escape from lawful custody.
Police have described Boye as wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a grey blue shirt when he escaped, and advised members of the public not to approach him and to just call the authorities.
