Lily Allen might be buzzing over the recent success of her new track Hard Out Here, but other ventures the pop singer has pursued in the past haven’t been as successful.
It has just been revealed that the clothing firm Lucy In Disguise LLP, Lily set up with her sister Sarah Owen, has been forced into liquidation, owing thousands of pounds to a leading manufacturer.
The company reportedly owe £12,000 to Aurora Fashions, whose brands include Coast, Oasis and Warehouse.
Richard Glanville, Aurora’s chief financial officer, told The Mail on Sunday that Lily still owes his company £12,000 and said it had been impossible to settle the matter without taking legal action. The mother-of-two’s company initially owed Aurora £100,000 and this bill was only paid ‘in dribs and drabs’ over 18 months. He said:
We had to make numerous phone calls and send several letters to chase up payments. It has been a very drawn-out affair and we gave them every opportunity to pay the money back before applying to put it into administration.
The store was launched in March 2011 in Covent Garden, and shortly relocated to Soho. In August 2011, Lily announced that her sister would be taking over the business. This was probably when she realised it was a failure…
Well at least she has her music career now. We just hope her sister has a plan b. Or a rich husband.
