X Factor contestant Hannah Barrett has rubbished claims that she was suicidal and almost starved to death after her mum kicked her out.
Last week, news broke of the 17-year-old’s struggle to survive after her violent mother threw her onto the streets, after a series of rows, leaving the talented singer feeling suicidal.
I was 16 and I was very vulnerable. It was a dark time and really hard to deal with.
Hannah was living in accommodation for troubled youths months before auditioning for the show and was reportedly forced to survive on meals costing 13p.
I had serious financial problems. I didn’t have enough money to eat. It was really hard having to buy my own food at that age. There were quite a few times when I’d be down to my last £5. I had to live on instant noodles from Sainsbury’s that cost 13p. That was the hardest time
However last night, Hannah said the stories weren’t true, in a message sent out on Twitter.
All the rumours going round I was never suicidal and I never starved myself to death!! Don't believe everything you read
