In an attempt to put its rivals Whatsapp and Snapchat out of business, Instagram has added direct messaging to its service.
Users will now be able to send photos, videos and messages to not only their followers and people they follow, but complete (and very attractive) strangers.
When you send pictures or videos to people that don’t follow you, it will go to their requests page, where they can decide if they want to view it.
If like me, you’ve seen some potential husbands on Instagram but don’t want the whole world to know that you’re in love. Instagram Direct is the best thing since like forever.
And if you don’t believe me, here’s five ways Instagram Direct will affect your life.
1. Shopping for boyfriends just got easier
You know when you spot a really hot guy on Instagram that lives in New York but is coming to London next week? You don’t want the whole world to see the phone number and hotel address you want to send him, but you do want HIM to see it.
Instagram Direct will allow you to contact Tyrone in private. Whether or not he wants to read the message is another question. But I’m sure if the picture you send him is bordering on soft porn, you’ll have a new lover in no time.
2. Everyone is going to get nudes in their inbox
I don’t really do nudes, but you’re telling me I can send naked pics to Boris Kodjoe? To Broderick Hunter? To Beyonce?! I don’t care how long it takes for someone to accept my message, everyone I fancy is getting one for Christmas.
3. There’s a chance those nudes you sent your ‘boyfriend’ are on this page
Instagram Direct hasn’t even been around for a day, but already ‘DirectExpose’ pages have started popping up. I suggest you follow them, you, your best friend or sister may be on there.
4. You’re going to get a lot of requests from people like this
I’ve already started getting requests from people called hornydadsdaily and bigdicksinyourdms.
5. You’re going to have to be extra careful about leaving your phone unattended around your girlfriend
