One of the suspects in the Woolwich murder case has decided not to give any evidence to either defend or explain his alleged actions.

Michael Adebowale, 22, has refused to stand in the witness box and the jury have been told not to base their verdict on the absence of his evidence.

Fellow suspect, 28-year-old Michael Adebolajo, gave evidence earlier this week describing himself as a “soldier of Allah” and referring to the murder as a “military operation”. He did not tell the court how long he had been planning the attack but said that he did not mean to run Lee Rigby over, instead the 25-year-old soldier crossed his car through the work of Allah.

The trial into soldier Lee Rigby’s murder continues next week with closing speeches.
