Fans of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie‘s 2nd novel Half of a Yellow Sun have a date to put in their diary. The highly anticipated film adaptation will be premiering at the Odeon cinema in Streatham on April 8, with a number of stars from the movie confirmed to attend.


Half of a Yellow Sun tells the story of four characters swept up in the turbulence of war. Ugwu: a houseboy employed by a university lecture. Olanna: a middle class woman in love with the lecturer. And Kainene (Olanna’s sister) and her British lover Richard.

12 Year’s a Slave’s Chiwetel Ejiofor, stars in the film alongside Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose, John Boyega and Genevieve Nnaji.

The movie made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September last year and was followed by a showing at the BFI London Film Festival in October.

Half of a Yellow Sun will hit UK theatres on April 11.
