Little Mix wearing the 90's trend

Celebrities like Little Mix and Cara Delevingne are digging out their old school high tops and stonewashed denim to revive the 90’s trend that the Pappzd team are currently obsessing over. We are loving it. All from the Fresh Prince style prints, to the hip hop inspired accessories. So sit back and let ua you the lowdown on the old school trend and how you can pull off the look effortlessly.

Fresh to Death Kicks

If you’re a Nineties baby, you’re probably all over the old school hip hop revival, and rappers like De La Soul and Run DMC are your go to guys for inspiration. You can’t really pull of the 90’s hip hop look without a fly pair of sneakers so you’ll want to invest in some classics.

After the madness that was Crepe City  we realised that you guys really don’t play when it comes to your trainers, and the classic Air Jordans and Air Maxes are definitely the footwear of choice if you want to rock the hip hop look.

For the ladies though, who remembers the glittery jelly sandals we used to wear in primary school? Yes girls, the jelly sandals are back with a vengeance and we can hardly contain our excitement! Expect the Pappzd ladies to be rocking a different colour each day of the week; our favourite so far are these adorable fluorescent ones from ASOS which would look so cute with a pair of frilly socks.

Luscious Lippy

Our favourite beauty trend from the Nineties that has made a big comeback has to be the iconic plum lip, the perfect colour if you want to pull off that grunge look. Household names like MAC and Sleek do have a great selection but for a unique brand that epitomises the 90’s inspired hip hop trend look no further than MDM Flow. The new yet growing beauty brand stocks a selective colour popping range and their popular plum shade “Vamp” is inspired by Nineties icons like Aaliyah and En Vogue.

 Retro Prints

Apart from the stonewash denim, slouchy backpacks and leather snapbacks, there are some  key pieces you’ll want to add to your Nineties revival wardrobe. We are absolutely loving the Miami style prints that featured heavily in Illustrated People’s latest collection and River Island have a cool selection of 90’s tropical florals as well as this faded Aztec print which has that essential 90’s vibe.

Of course we can’t forget crop tops, which were all the rage in the 90’s (if you had the washboard stomach that is) so this colourful denim print, also from River Island, could be perfectly paired with stonewash denim jeans and a checked lumberjack shirt around the waist.

Vintage High Fashion

Big name designers like Moschino and Versace were the luxury brands of choice for 90’s stars like Notorious B.I.G and Puff Daddy, as he liked to be called in the old days.

Vintage Versace

Your older brother would save up his pocket money for months to buy a pair of Versace jeans so he could stunt like Biggie in the old school jungle raves. Fortunately today you don’t need a rapper’s bank balance to get your hands on some designer inspired looks. Hubert & Calvin sell their old school luxury inspired pieces on ASOS Marketplace and you can see influences of vintage Versace in this cool tee.
