Although summer is traditionally a fairly quiet time on our screens, there’s been plenty of shows that have been bucking the trend in the past few weeks. From outrageous reality TV shows to some record-breaking fantasy series, here’s a selection of television entertainment that you shouldn’t have missed!

Game of Thrones

The defining trend of modern TV is the way that boxset series have dominated our screens. And season six of Game of Thrones has certainly continued this pattern with the season finale clocking up record viewing figures as a result of its gripping climax.

Many fantasy fans have claimed that this has been the best series of Game of Thrones yet with the tragic end of many favourite characters being countered with the fascinating development of some jawdropping storylines. But with a long wait until season seven lands in April 2017, it falls to the gaming site Betway to provide fans with some fantasy entertainment thanks to their Game of Thrones-themed slots games that are more than capable of delivering some welcome casinos bonuses.

Big Brother

Betway have also had their hand in one of summer’s other big TV hits with their sponsorship of Channel 5’s Big Brother. Although the series might not have the viewing figures of the early 2000’s, it has nevertheless become compulsive viewing thanks to the on-screen exploits of some seriously outrageous characters.

Our favourites have to be Georgina and Jackson who have lit up the screens with their own Romeo and Juliet-styled story that could come to a crashing end if the eviction vote goes against them. But even if that happens there’s plenty of Big Brother fun to come with Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding and Coronation Street’s Helen Flanagan reportedly lined up for Celebrity Big Brother later this year!

Love Island

And if that wasn’t enough then ITV 2’s Love Island has also been keeping us all gripped to our screens thanks to the crazy exploits of Zara Holland who managed to lose her Miss GB crown thanks to her on-screen romp with Alex Bowen.

Not to be outdone were contestants Emma-Jane Woodham and Terry Walsh who left nothing to the imagination with their steamy bedroom antics last week that certainly helped the show seize some impressive ratings after the disappointing season of 2015.

And although it doesn’t have the big casino bonuses associated with Big Brother, it’s the on-screen drama of Love Island that have helped the show be the surprise hit of the summer over the massively underwhelming return of Top Gear!
